One of the most famous songs is the Esashi Oiwake.」「The locality where the Esashi Oiwake originated is the fishing village of Esashi, about 80 kilometers west of Hakodate on the northernmost main island of Hokkaido. This song is the theme of an annual contest in September. Participants come not only from various parts of Hokkaido, but from all regions of the country.
