The most powerful man of 12th century Japan Tairano Kiyomori said the day was not long enough for him to visit the Akino Miyajima Shrine he worshipped, since he had to make a detour. So he called back the setting sun and held it suspended in the sky while he had a narrow strait excavated. This is the strait known us the Ondono Seto. It is no wider than 200 meters and the sea current is very fast, making it one of the difficult passages in the Seto Inland Sea.
