- 曲目解説7~8枚目に「The Wexford coast in the South East of Ireland has long associations with ships and sailors. This part of the country has also a very strong folksong tradition in English and many of the songs have to do with the sea and particularly with tragedy at sea.」「Our next song tells the story of a terrible storm in November 1815, when six fishing boats from the village of Tinnaberna were lost with all their crews. The singer is John Furlong and the song was handed down through his family from the time of the tragedy.」「THE TINNABERNA FISHERMAN.[下線付]」「On the fourteenth of November in eighteen and fifteen, / We launched our boats and put to sea from Tinnaberna Green. / The North-west wind began to blow as night began to fall, / The fishermen being high to sea at the mercy of the squall.」「'Twas in that sad and fearful hour each man he took his oar; / But all our efforts were in vain; we could not make the shore. / We sat and watched the fading hill, that smiled behind the foam; / Bade adieu to Tinnaberna and the friends we left at home.」「We saw the banks of Poulder fading fastly from our view; / We saw the bonfire on the hill, its meaning well we know. / We watched the hissing pure white foam like snow-drifts on the sea, / And Tuskar's grand revolving light we had it on our lee.」「Our skipper watched the fleeting clouds that swept across the skies, / Saying: "Boys don't lose your courage until the moon will rise." / But the time went on, the night grew dark, and the wind ne'er ceased to blow; / And we prayed for many a comrade that lay in the depths below. / We sat in fear and silence; in fear we need not say, / While the skipper knelt and prayed to God to spare us till the day. / Our little boat, she shyly sheered from the wicked wind that blew, / While Tinnaberna that we loved had vanished from our view.」「But we could see our friends at home and the desolation there, / As we knelt and prayed to God above, and wept in deep despair. / O'Connor raised his hand and said: "I fear our hopes are few, / And if I'm drowned this dreadful night, what will my children do?"」「JOHN FURLONG[下線付]:」「THE TINNABERNA FISHERMAN.」「4'30".」と記載。
