- 曲目解説4~5枚目に「The experience of Irish people at sea was not confined to sailors or fishermen. In the 19th. century due to famine, general economic depression and an unjust land system, over one million Irish people left Ireland to seek a better life for themselves in the new world of Australia and more particularly North America. This emigration, this exodus was one of the most dramatic and significant and at times tragic episodes in the history of the Irish people in the last 200 years and is very strongly reflected in folksong and ballad. Ireland must surely have more songs of emigration and exile than any country in the world. Most of the songs are sorrowful; many of them are tragic because they tell of emigrant ships which never reached America but were lost at sea. Such a ship was the Edmond[「Edmond」に下線] which left Limerick for New York in November 1850 but was wrecked with a loss of 96 lives. The first verse of the song follows an old standard opening to such ballads.」「"You landsmen all I pray attend and to me lend an ear, / Its of a dreadful shipwreck as ever you did hear, / The gallant Barque called Edmond that sailed from Limerick quay, / With 216 souls on board bound for America.」「But many of the songs of emigration, even though they express sorrow at leaving Ireland, are yet full of hope for a better life in the New World. THE GREEN FIELDS OF AMERICA[「THE GREEN FIELDS OF AMERICA」に下線] is a good example.」「Farewell to old Ireland, the land of my fathers, / Which now I'm going for ever to leave, / Farewell to the shore which nature adorns, / The birth place of beauty – the home of the brave; / I'll think on its valleys with fond admiration, / Though never again its green hills shall I see, / For I'm bound for to cross the wide Western ocean, / In search of fame, fortune and sweet liberty. / I have a sweet lassie that I will take with me, / Her dwelling at present is in the country Tyrone, / It would break my heart for to leave her behind me, / So we'll roam together the wide world round, / The ship she's lying in fair Derry Harbour, / That's to bear us away on the salt swelling sea, / May Heaven be her pilot and send her fair breezes, / 'Till we reach the country of sweet liberty.」「JOHN LYONS[下線付]:」「GREEN FIELDS OF AMERICA[下線付]」「3'44".」と記載(「③」「[In the 19th. century due to famine, general economicに]下線」「[one million Irish peopleに]下線」「男」「無伴奏」の書き込みあり)。
