Like many other fairy tales, this is a tragedy: in trying to reach the other shore, the King's son drowns and eventually both lovers lie dead in the depths of the water.」「That folksong was sung by Roswitha Scheer, a German folksinger who accompanies herself on the guitar.」「Roswitha Scheer's initial success came when she performed in oratorios and church concerts. Today, however, her energies are devoted exclusively to folksongs -- and not just German folksongs. Her work with Germany's "Lufthansa" airlines has given her the opportunity to travel throughout the world. When on tour, she uses the hours preceding her performances to speak to the simple people on the street and ask them about the sort of songs people are still singing. As a result, she's collected together more than three-hundred songs from all continents and noted down the lyrics and melodies.
