One of them calls out one, two, three......and at three, both bring their fists forward showing thumb, or index finger or little finger. The thumb stand for elephant, the index finger for man, the little finger for ant. Since the ant can defeat the elephant by tickling the inside of its trunk, the elephant can crush a man by stepping on him and man can kill an ant, one of the players will win unless both show the same finger. The loser has to take the more unpleasant part in the game to be played.」「The hands too determine the character of a by now forgotten game played by girls: knucklebones. The game was played as follows: a couple of girls would sit in front of a house preferably on a slab of a hard blue type of stone. One of them would toss a sheep's knucklebone in the air and pick up or put down four others according to a set of traditional rules, usually to the rhythm of a knucklebone song.
