曲目解説pp.2,3に「The fact that mythical traces of ancient popular beliefs have been preserved in children's songs is explained mainly by the old custom of the past whereby hardly any attention was paid to anything connected with the child's inner world which was regarded as unimportant. Adults used to leave things like fairy tales, wonders and the joys of surprise to the children because they regarded these useless things as childish. It was not until the present century which has been called the 'century of the child' that people have gradually started to realize how important the myth of the fairy tale is for the child's psychological development.」「Another folk song which came originally from the world of adult legend is undoubtedly the song of the "Buckligen Männlein" or the "hunchbacked little man", the words and tune of which are of Austrian origin. Actually the "hunchbacked little man" is meant to be the mysterious man-like mandrake root which, in the legend, is often called the "mandragora". The ancient belief in this wondrous talisman was brought to Europe from the Orient by scholars and traders. And it was especially the poets of the romantic era who were inspired by it - like Achim von Arnim and Clemens Brentano who also included this song about the hunchbacked little man in their famous collection of folk songs called "Des Knaben Wunderhorn".」「In this song, wherever the girl goes, she is followed by a little hunchbacked man. When she's watering the flowers in the garden, cooking the soup in the kitchen, in the cellar and even when she's making up the bed in the bed-chamber - and this is not entirely unambiguous - the little man pops up everywhere. And when at last the girl kneels down on her prayer stool in her room and the little man begs her to pray for him too, we see the clear reflection of that old longing for Christian salvation from which elf-like beings like this little hunchbacked man must always be excluded.」「3)」「"WILL ICH IN MEIN GÄRTLEIN GEHEN"[下線付]」「(I'll go into my little garden)」、p.7に「3)」「Volksweise aus Österreich」「Will ich in mein Gärtlein gehn[下線付]」「(I'll Go Into My Little Garden)」「303 890」「Pfälzer Weinkehlchen, Ltg.
