And while warming themselves the children, who could not play any active games sitting in this manner, enjoyed themselves by playing various indoor games. Yubi-asobi was one of them.」「All the children place their two hands on the kotatsu table, forming the shape of a circle with each hand. One of the children, who is oni (it), then puts his finger into these circles one by one in time with the rhythm of the song he sings. The child into whose hand oni has thrust his finger when he finishes singing is forced to withdraw that hand from the kotatsu table. The oni then resumes his singing, thrusting his finger again into the small circles the children have made with their hands one by one, beginning with the hand next to the one which has just been with drawn. He repeats this again and again until one of the children happens to have withdrawn both his hands.
