In such countries the people's interest in rain is naturally very keen. In the past, Japanese farmers would take holidays on rainy days and pray to thank the gods for their many blessings. So the Japanese farmers have welcomed, rather than abhored rainy weather.」「The fox and the tanuki (raccoon dog) have long been considered as divine messengers who bring rain to the earth; and it has been said since olden times that it will surely rain on the next day when foxes are seen walking in procession or a tanuki is seen holding a large potato leaf in its hand like an umbrella.」「As a reflexion of the ideas traditional among the adults, Japanese children would go out of their houses whenever it began to rain, and would jump about for joy. The song sung on such occasions was "Ame-furi no Uta" or "The Rain-Falling Song". The present recording was made as a group of primary school children in Kyoto City sang their "Ame-furi no Uta"．」「The words of this song go: "It has begun to drizzle. A baby fox, a divine messenger of the god of rain, passes along the road yelping."」「Since the people in Kyoto City respect old customs, some, although perhaps not many, children are still heard singing this kind of song.」と記載。
