It is celebrated to Usher in the Assam's New Year, Baishakh, which falls during the month of April. Young men and women of the village gather together and celebrate the festival by dancing and singing. The songs sung on this occasion describe the beauty of nature or express love sentiments and aspirations of the youth. The style of singing is plain and simple and full of vigour and boldness. / This particular song is an expression of an admiration towards the advent of spring. The musical instruments used are drum, called Dhol, a blowing instrument made of baffalo horn, called Pepa and small cymbals, known as Tala.
