- 曲目解説「EXPLANATORY NOTES ON THE 19 SPECIMENS OF TURKISH FOLK TUNES ON TAPE」に「13. A song from the Köroghlu legend. A very old Turkish folk tune sang by a mixed chorus. Köroghlu is believed to have been a XVIth century folk poet, who lived the life of an outlaw, in revolt against the cruelty of the Governor of Bolu (Bolu Beyi). The story is briefly as follows: "The Governor of Bolu orders Yusuf, his groom, to find a fine horse for him. Yusuf who knows much about horses picks up a colt and takes it to his master. Displeased with the colt the Governor punishies his groom by having him blinded and dismissed from his service. Yusuf then rides to his village on the back of the colt. He has a wife and sun living in this village. Yusuf tells his son what has happened to him, and asks him to take revenge from the cruel Governor of Bolu when he is old enough to do it. The son is called Köroghlu on account of the blindness of his father. In time Köroghlu becomes a great hero, and the colt grows to become the finest horse in the world. Köroghlu gathers some friends around him and begins to fight against his enemies.
