SHIN SOMA-BUSHI 2'33"」、十枚目に「"SHIN SOMA-BUSHl" (Fukushima Prefecture)」「Composed in the late 1940s, this number is based on "Kusakari Uta" ("The Grass-Cutter's Song"), a tune long sung in the Soma district on the Pacific coast in the northern part of Fukushima Prefecture.」「The lyric was composed by Masao Suzuki (died in 1961 at the age of 61), a folk-song singer of neighboring Miyagi Prefecture. The lyrics faithfully describe a love the writer experienced in his youth.」「Although Suzuki had fallen in love with a village girl of Soma, her parents stubbornly refused to accept hjm. Unable to forget her, the lovelorn youngster sought」、十一枚目に「solace by climbing a nearby mountain to cut grass, and from the summit he would gaze longingly at the girl's village. The lyrics, then, are replete with such expressions of yearning as "Are those the skies of Soma, the Soma I love and yearn for so much?"」「With its introduction in 1955 in a film whose background was Fukushima Prefecture, "Keisatsu Nikki" ("A Policeman's Diary"), the number gained nation-wide popularity.」「Michiya Mihashi, the vocalist, has produced a large number of hits since his debut in 1955 as a popular singer.
