雑資料二枚目に「2. SHONAI OBAKO 3'24"」、六枚目に「"SHONAI OBAKO"(Yamagata Prefecture)」「This song humorously describes the yearning of a love-sick country youth. "I was waiting near the rice paddy for my "obako" (a pretty girl of marriageable age)but a tobacco vendor, of all people, was the only one to come my way," he says.」「In another part of the song, we find the humorous lines, "A lobster wrestled with a frog, was thrown by the frog, and so his back was bent."」「Amusing and pleasant, the number is a representative folk song of Yamagata Prefecture. Of ancient origin, the tune was known as far back as the middle of the Edo period as "Shonai-bushi" and is believed to have first been sung by farmers as they made ropes. All Akita and Fukushima folk songs entitled "Obako" have their origin in this number.」「Shonai, a geographical location, refers to the area chiefly around the cities of Tsuruoka and Sakata on the Japan Sea side of Yamagata Prefecture.」「Miss Fumiko Shitaya can boast of a fine record as a vocalist. Miss Shitaya's vocal career was largely influenced by her mother, who played folk song accompaniments on the shamisen at Japanese restaurants in Yamagata.」と記載。
